Joanna is a Printmaker and pen & ink Artist capturing the wildlife, fauna and flora of the Cairngorm Mountains from her studio in Aviemore. Her work is on display in the gallery in the cottage at Speyside Distillery.

Joanna McDonough was born in Aldershot in 1967 and Studied Art & Design at Bretton Hall College, specializing in screen printing and lithography. She graduated in 1989 with BA (Hons) in Art & Design.

After a career in commercial printing Joanna worked at the National Glass Studio where her interest was re awakened and Joanna began painting, drawing, and printing once more. Relocating to the Cairngorm Mountains in the Highland of Scotland, Joanna has set up her own print studio, and is now inspired by the local wildlife and landscape surrounding the Speyside Distillery, the River Spey and the Cairngorms. Using silk screens, she mono prints the background colours then using the traditional arts of pen and ink she creates unique one-off wildlife drawings/prints.

In 2014 Joanna completed a course at the Princes School of Traditional Arts (PSTA) in London studying Persian Biomorphic Design and will be undertaking future projects in conjunction with Harvey’s of Edinburgh. In 2015 Joanna donated and sold a piece of artwork at the Saatchi Gallery in London at a charity auction event organised in conjunction with the PSTA.

As artist in residence at the Speyside Distillery Joanna has undertaken many private projects including the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and her original works can now be seen at the ScotlandArt.com Gallery.
