Graduated from Glasgow School of Art with First Class BA Hons in 1986 and Postgraduate Printmaking in 1987.

Continued practice as an artist since then, winning awards, exhibiting internationally and undertaking many international residencies.

Sole trader artist since returning from volunteering in The Gambia from 2008 to 2010 where I opened a Children’s Art Centre at Juffureh World Heritage site, previously maintained a career in arts management with positions in lecturing, sales and marketing, fundraising and project/event management. I work with the mediums of screenprinting and digital imaging.

My work is narrative and emotionally driven; focusing on the human form, with the titles having a central position to resonate with the imagery. I work with a mixture of found images and my own autographic and photographic images; an eclectic library of personal and archetypal iconography that I reuse, redevelop and manipulate continuously. I create montaged illusionist environments from disparate sources.

I work with an intense palette of colour opposites which create a dreamlike and sometimes nocturnal quality to my work. I am attracted to printmaking and the authority of print, which produces an image that has gone through technical and mechanical processes. I also like working with multiples as I like to experiment and develop an image infinitely, enabling me to take an initial idea in several different directions.
