I am captivated by movement and dance.I aim to create innovative and highly expressive three dimensional works which capture that movement, which capture a moment, a fleeting glance often lost, telling a story of what has been and is yet to come. To achieve this my works, often likened to three dimensional sketches, are but the simplest of outlines and shadows, sketched in a technique of considered haste. This technique is greatly influenced by Zen Buddhist calligraphy.I sketch not with pencil or pen but with wire! My tonal work is created with the application of papier mache or textiles.Exhibiting2012Lauderdale House, LondonArt Ahoy, Celia Purcell Contemporary, Willow House , DealScotlandart.com, GlasgowThe Dancing Light Gallery, Nr West Linton, ScotlandMoy Mackay Gallery, PeeblesRobertson Fine Art, Glenrothes, Fife2011Dancing Light Gallery, Nr West Linton, ScotlandThe Menier Gallery, LondonCloud Nine Gallery, Dumfries2010St. Martins-in-the-Fields, LondonCelia Purcell Contemporary, LondonGateside Sculpture Trail, Cupar, FifeThe Marchmont Gallery, Edinburgh2009The Troubador Gallery, LondonHope sculpture installed at Parley Hill Garden, CulrossThe Quay Gallery, Aberdour, FifeGeorge Galitzine Show, Kings Road, London2008Christos Gallery, GlasgowThe Brunton Theatre, MusselburghChelsea Art Fair, London (by invitation)Jersey Gallery, LondonTango exhibition, CPC, LondonRise sculpture installed at Parley Hill Garden, Culross, Fife200711th Annual Exhibition of Women’s Work, AldershotThe Jerdan Gallery , Crail, FifeBlues and Greens, North BerwickHanover Fine Arts, EdinburghAlon Zakaim, LondonSheridan Russell, LondonJust Scottish, EdinburghFinalist at Lautieri Moores exhibition at The Gallery on Cork Street, LondonThe Menier gallery, LondonEducation1986-1988 North Warwickshire College - National Diploma in Art and Design1988-1990 Newcastle College of Art, Higher National Diploma in Photography and Film1998 Edinburgh College of Arts, General Sculpure1998 Edinburgh College of Arts, Life Modelling in clay2000-2002 Woodcarving student of Latvian sculptor Zigsfrids Sapietis2008 Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop- Lafarge cement courseCollaborationFrom 2007 to 2009 I was invited to attend rehearsals of Scottish based dance company The Curve Foundation, to study the dancers and create sculptures inspired by this experience. Some of these works were taken on the 10th anniversary tour of the company. One of the works was presented to a French dancer, Soraya, on the stage at The Kings Theatre, Edinburgh. This was a present for her 10th anniversary with the company.I am currently in collaboration with David Hughes Dance. I am creating works inspired by my studies of the dancers in rehearsal for their next performance, The Chinaski Sessions. I would welcome any further collaboration with dancers and performers.Commissions.I have worked on various commissions and welcome future commissions both public and private.
