Jonathan Hood-
Born 1957 in Edinburgh
Grew up in Fife and Tayside
Educated at Webster's High School,Kirriemuir
Studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art,Dundee 1976-79
and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts,Paris 79-80
Lived in France until 1981 becoming fluent in French
On returning to Scotland
Played guitar in several groups,writing around 50 songs
Became a full time painter in 1986 mostly working in watercolour and collage
From 1988 started working mostly in oil,moved into studio,conducted various children's workshops(maskmaking,painting,collage and installing a 60'image of a sheep made from 800 flags onto Dundee Law-the extinct volcano that dominates Dundee's skyline-for the Dundee 800 celebrations.
Taught painting in nightclasses- subsequently 3 students going on to study at art college
in 2006 conducted a collage&painting workshop in Morgan Academy,Dundee for the Racial Equality Commission.
enabling 2 school pupils to reach the final.
Ran the WASPS open weekend,2006 in Dundee,
Influences include Picasso,John Bellany,Warhol,Francis Bacon,Banksy,Carivagio,Braque,German Expressionism,Kandinsky,Stanley Donwood
Divorced with 2 sons,lives with his partner in Dundee
