Curriculum Vitae Janice Dalton
Born 1946 and lived in the west of Scotland, mainly in Glasgow and Hamilton. Studied Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art 1964 ~ 68, gaining a Diploma in Art [DA]. Taught Art and Design in secondary schools and in further education. Worked in various community education projects.
I have completed many private commissions, with a variety of subject matter - often portraits. I have exhibited in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hamilton, Paisley and the East Neuk of Fife, and have shown work for many years at the Pittenweem Festival. I had work accepted for inclusion in a collection for the new Fielden House, part of the permanent collection owned by the House of Lords. The work for the Palace of Westminster and five recent pieces for a local family have been landscapes or cityscapes.
I enjoy working in a variety of media: oil on board or canvas, pastel on paper or card, and mixed media. Much of my recent work has been in pastel, exploring the play of light on fabrics and skin tones.
