CHERYLENE DYER C.V
Cherylene Dyer was born in Dumfries and studied at Glasgow School of Art graduating in 1998, with an honours degree in drawing and painting. Since graduation she has continued living in Glasgow and painting full time. She regularly exhibits work in London and through out Scotland.
She specialises in figurative oil painting, with her main inspirations coming from the old masters. Listing Rembrant and Carevaggio as key influences in her work. The main aims of her work are to create atmosphere and ambiguity, obscuring the subjects that she paints with glaze upon glaze of paint, she gives to the viewer only the basic information to build an image, compelling them to guess the rest. Quote " my work is intended to force the viewer to act as vouyer. if they ask the questions what is he she up to, or feel they could be party to someones private moment, then my work is sucessful"
