Pauline's paintings encapsulate the vibrant and lively Scottish landscape. Born in Helensburgh in 1963, she was drawn to art from an early age as her mother was an artist and teacher and taught her the importance of drawing skills and mixing colour.

Pauline then went on to train at the renowned Glasgow School of Art under the tutelage of John Cunningham, graduating BA (hons) in 1985. She developed a successful career in art education which culminated in lecturing at both Strathclyde and Glasgow universities. In 2009 she embarked on a doctoral study based on art practice and art education, graduating in 2014. This study combined the research methodologies of writing prose and making art; an experience which led to the realization that it was time to return to her first love - painting. Pauline is now a full time painter. Several times a year she travels around Scotland to gather research material in the form of sketches, photographs and journals, returning laden to work from her studio in Milngavie.

The landscape and iconic Scottish scenery are clear influences in Patrick's work, and her style, including her use of impasto, beautifully conveys the vibrant and energetic environment that surrounds us. She enjoys loading as much paint as possible onto the board, resulting in bold and strong paintings, which are instantly recognizable with her earthy colour palette and dancing clouds.

"I concentrate on the Scottish landscape and its coastline where the sand is white and the rocks are hewn from the thunderous crashing of waves"
