I finished my formal art education in 1986 and have continued to develop my art work either on a part or full time basis ever since.

While working for the Youth Hostel Association in the late 80�s I spent my off duty drawing and developing mono-printing techniques.

In 1990 my sight started to fail and I was forced over the next few years to try and relearn ways of drawing and painting with rapidly deteriorating sight. My sight stabilized in 1996 but I was registered as blind a couple of years later; I now have just a small restricted area of peripheral vision in my right eye with which to work.

By 1998 I had started to re-gain confidence in the work I was doing and on moving to Ayrshire, started to exhibit paintings and drawings again.

Since then I have developed techniques that allow me to create paintings despite my limited vision.

I am and always have been very committed and continue to strive towards creating better work. My life long passion for hill walking and wild places is now the main source for my paintings and in June this year my work won the Jolomo Award 2009 for Scottish Landscape Painting.
