Smith, David Curriculum Vitae

Born in Dunbartonshire in 1957, David Smith still lives and works in the area. He has studied at various colleges in Glasgow including the Glasgow School of Art and the Glasgow Print Studio.
Hill-walking and climbing in the Scottish Highlands for many years has instilled a sense of the outdoors in the artist which is recreated in his paintings. The palette and inspiration of his work is taken from the seaboard and landscape of Scotland.
David is a member and past president of The Glasgow Group of Artists. He was awarded the David Cargill prize at the 2001 RGI annual exhibition, the Winsor and Newton award at the 2009 RSW annual exhibition and The Adam Award at the 2010 Paisley Art Institute annual exhibition.
