Shazia Mahmood is a sea and landscape artist who has been exhibiting and selling world-wide for over twenty-five years. Her work depicts the contrasting coastlines of West Sussex and the Scottish highlands.
Through the year of experimentation and pushing boundaries, Mahmood discovered creative ways to apply paint – rarely is a brush her go-to tool. The beginning of paintings often abstract, fluid and chaotic.
Mahmood’s overall vision as an artist is to create a painting that resonates with the viewer. Her hope is to evoke and emotional reaction and an instinctive connection. With clever and skilful manipulation, she hopes the paint and place work together to create a natural synergy.
The inspiration for Mahmood has always been about capturing the light on the land or sea. She can be obsessive about capturing that one moment in time. The dramatic beams at certain times of the delay that incredible moments of light within a seascape or landscape.
